I don't have much to say really

Other than I'm going through the house and alternating between exasperation that it's still three weeks before we accomplish what we've decided and pure panic as you look at what needs to be done in three weeks time. Such a weird feeling to live in such a state of flux. We got official approval on the house today and it's going on time to start down the list of turning things off/on. Took a boatload of stuff to the dry cleaners to be cleaned before it's packed. Dh has decided to go to school and get a certification done before we move. Necessary yes - but throws a bunch of crap on me.

Time moves fast yet time moves slow ...

General Observances

1. It's been COLD. I froze at Abigail's soccer practice. It's supposed to be late April.

2. 3 weeks can be so LONG and so SHORT at the same time! That's all I have left to weed out stuff before we hit the road. Then again - I'm ready to hit the road!

3. People can be cruel. I've observed three instances of animal abuse this past week. Some people should not be allowed to have animals.

4. The horrible events at Virginia Tech sends shivers of grief down my spine. My heartfelt condolences to all involved.

5. I luff all my Dawgs!

In Memory of those that lost their lives at Virginia Tech. Many prayers for them and for those that have been affected.

The Countdown

Ok - here we go. We are down to less than a month. Tick tock. I've been weeding through the bigger stuff. Now it's time to get down to the nitty gritty. I did give in and buy some boxes. There's a marvelous place online with great prices and free shipping. The Mover said all my scrap stuff can stay in the tubs and drawers they are in as long as I shrink wrap them so I got some of that too.

I'd say the basement is going to be the biggest pain in the ass - even after all the tossing and moving we did when we had half the basement finished.

It will be some interesting days ...

The Dragon / Fontana Dam

Last weekend we went to a get together from David's S2K Forum at the Dragon. 200+ people from that site showed up. The people were all really nice. On Saturday my good buddy Rhonda came for a visit! Here are some pics. Hopefully, in a little bit I will be able to add some driving pictures.

A little bit of sadness

As the last of the quotes come in and we wait on a final mover selection and I make more progress weeding through stuff and shifting things around to get to stuff ... I walk through my living room which is half bare now with most of the stuff off the walls and the couch moved way off to the end so I could vacuum out cushions and kill my beloved dust bunnies under it that have been my faithful companions (added for drama ha ha ha!), and the fish all gone ... it's making me a little sad tonight.

OK more than a little sad I've gotten teary. But it's ok to get maudlin for a night right???

Cassie - being the contrary creature that she is - is getting a bit psyched.

The Date

Is officially May 18th at 10:00 AM. We will be at the closing and hopefully the moving van will be waiting for us when we are done. That means we will have to be down there on the 17th for a final walk through. That's 5 1/2 weeks to go!

The Cousin

I'm going to sound hokey here. We've lived in Cincinnati close to nine years. We have NO family here. David has been spending some time calling all his relatives in NC. As you remember from any Thanksgiving pics or posts you might have seen from me there's lots of his extended family in Eastern NC.

Anyway he has an older cousin who is about 76 years old. Never married - lives by himself. I see him about once a year when we trek down there for Thanksgiving. Every Sunday, traditionally, when dh was growing up this cousin would drive out to Eastern NC to visit his parents for a visit and stop at David's house on the way back "for a sandwich".

He is currently living about a half hour from where we are going to be. He's announced that he is going to start coming by on various Sunday afternoons "for a sandwich".

The thought of this is making me ridiculously happy. And I think how freaking cool is that going to be???

The Money Pit

That's what dh is now calling our house here. LOL I tell him its our own fault. We 've been here nine years and other than the AC system we haven't done any upgrades, replacements, etc.

I do need to say the house is MUCH quieter without the fish tanks! Abigail was very upset her goldfish left. Nary you worry - she is a master at working her Daddy.

The Hair Cut

I finally got Abigail's hair cut shorter! Banana dance with me! Isn't she purrty?
(I was making her say applesauce with pickles)

The Princess

The Snow Bunny

You'll probably have to click the pic to make it bigger but here's one of Anna after being out snuffling snow!

The Incident!!!

We have a holding tank we use when the turtle tank is being cleaned. It has its own basking light to help keep the water warm. Cassie had cleaned out the tank, but Ralph back in the tank but never turned off the light. Abigail came barelling in from outside and jostled the tank which knocked the light over. Smoke everywhere in seconds. And look at the floor!!!

There's something else we gotta replace

OK Let's See

Sunday Night - got rid of some stuff on Freecycle, cleaned out my closet, donated some clothes ... did a little reading. Nothing too exciting. Waiting it out...
