In Memorium

My Uncle passed away this morning, May 13, 2007. He left us way too early and the family is devastated. Today has been very hard for me, every time I think I'm a bit better all of a sudden I stop and start crying.

It was he who talked to me most about what the family went through during WWII - about how my Mom would sneak to the army barracks at night to steal food while he kept watch praying she wouldn't get caught and shot in front of him - about the prison camp they wound up in while trying to escape Germany. My Mother doesn't like to talk about any of that, and won't.

I remember when I was really young driving around in the back of his Mustang Cobra. I remember him sitting on our screened in back porch with a dark beer in one hand and gesturing with a cigar in the other. He had the most wonderful sounding belly laugh.

Rest in peace Uncle Marty

Wow. Sounds like you have some fascinating memories of him. So sorry about the loss.
